S.O.U.N.D.S. Trumpet Program: Build Confidence, Skill, and Sound
The S.O.U.N.D.S. Trumpet Program offers a personalized and encouraging approach to brass instruction, welcoming students of all ages and skill levels. Under the guidance of Jenni Conrad, an accomplished performer and educator with advanced training in trumpet performance and music education, students receive expert instruction rooted in strong fundamentals and practical musicianship.
When students begin their journey, the focus is on developing a solid foundation in tone production, breath support, posture, and technique. Lessons also incorporate music reading, rhythm, and essential music theory concepts. Through carefully selected exercises and repertoire, students build the skills needed to perform with confidence while learning how to approach challenges with effective practice strategies.
Each week, students benefit from 1.5 hours of instruction, including individualized private lessons and group sessions that promote collaboration, growth, and peer learning. Through consistent goal-setting—both short-term and long-term—students are able to track progress, celebrate achievements, and stay motivated throughout their musical journey. Students also have opportunities to perform in S.O.U.N.D.S. recitals, gaining valuable experience and confidence on stage.
Led by Jenni Conrad—a Summa Cum Laude graduate of both the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and Mississippi State University—the program reflects a strong commitment to both performance excellence and music education. Jenni’s experience as a performer, ensemble leader, and educator working with students from kindergarten through 12th grade ensures that each student receives personalized, thoughtful instruction tailored to their individual needs and goals.
